Cabinet of natural (Sjuhäradsrundan) memories
When you sit in a train the surroundings are passing by quick. You might have a bit of an idea how the landscape looks but small details you will miss because of the speed. My location for (x)sites Sjuhäradsrundan in the bay of Marbäck used to be a former railway line, at the moment it is a cycle path.
For this exhibition I builded a work called Cabinet of natural (Sjuhäradsrundan) memories. Many small cabinets placed beside the cycle path, filled with natural objects, found and collected in the area. On all these objects I reacted with yarn. I embroidered ore crocheted on the objects. This way I had to look close to all the objects and got to know them. In our modern society daily life goes fast and we hardly take the time to stop and look. Sometimes it feels if we drive in a super train speed through life. With this work I hope you will stop, take a small break and discover the small beautiful details of our surrounding. I also invite you to find on all the objects the textile details I added. Sometimes it is easy to see them, but some of them are really hard to find.
In my work I like to use old craft techniques as embroidery and crocheting. In this work besides the fact that it is my kind of language, it also refers to the textile history of the Sjuhäradsrundan area.
