Colour in Waves
‘Colour in Waves’ floats on lake Åsunden. The artwork consists of three textile collages suspended within a wooden framework, supported by buoys. When first exploring the site, I was drawn towards the water and the boat clubs situated on the edge of the lake. This sparked ideas about the materiality of the artwork - for example the use of sail fabric - and the potential to float the artwork. My process began by mapping patterns and colours within the architecture of Ulricehamn, such as decorative details from wooden doorways and facades. These shapes have been extracted and re-configured to form bold designs inspired by the site. The artwork reflects and rotates in the water, interacting with the wind and the waves, to offer different perspectives and compositions to the viewer. Material: Ripstop nylon, wood, buoys Dimensions: 150 x 150 x 150 cm With thanks to the assistance of Karl-Åke (Ulricehamns Kappseglingssällskap) and Nathan Clydesdale (For/med Design).Photo & Video: Nathan Clydesdale
