Heaps

Heaps A form and a landscape. -a perception of sight. Questions: How is the landscape perceived and what builds the spatial in a landscape photograph? Is there is a communal landscape model that represents our way of seeing the landscape? How is this model conceived and how does it change? How is the passage of time an agent of change? . . . Another layer. First impressions. The heap catches our eye. Why? The heap is present in the terrain as a shape and a means to move material and create new topographies. What is the role of the heap? Studying shape when exposed to various surroundings. Studying perspective to examine how we observe the heap in its environment. -Studying time and spatiality to see how it affects a solitaire that is omnipresent in the landscape. -Studying how the shape endures the elements. Can we use existing models of perception as an initial tool for the research?  What happens when we project these models on the physical landscape? Can we solve the mystery of the stimuli the heap works on us? Addressing issues that lies at the center of something seemingly simple and basic. The initial research of the properties of the heap. Driven by the need for a deepened understanding of the qualities of the landscape. And the heap. A shaky player in the field. Will it still be there beyond the apocalypse? The artist duo Willner-Olsson consists of Johan Willner and Peo Olsson. They have been collaborating since 2015, on a long-term project focusing on the landscape and its changes. Based on aspects such as democracy, activism and history, the work aims to illuminate processes of change that lie hidden in the obvious. The heap series consists of ca 150 images. www.willner-olsson.se
